Alternative routes for exporting agricultural products from Ukraine are operating, but they cannot fully compensate for the volumes exported through seaports. The state’s strategic task is to restore full-scale exports through the ports of Greater Odesa.
As reported by Ukrinform, citing the Ministry of Agrarian Policy , Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotskyi emphasized this during an online address to the Lviv Region Farmers’ Forum.
“In August, Ukraine exported about one-third of its potential monthly agricultural-export volume — 1.7 million tons in September, under favorable conditions, exports could rise to approximately 2 million tons per month, which would amount to about 40% of the required volume. If the situation improves, the maximum figure could potentially reach 2.5 million tons,” Vysotskyi said.
In his view, alternative routes will not be able to handle the entire volume. The Ministry of Agrarian Policy is working with international partners, including those from Romania and Poland, to increase export volumes.
