Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday asked the party MLAs and public representatives to adopt the best governance practices, stay connected with people and proactively resolve long-pending problems in their respective constituencies.Addressing a leadership conclave on government and public services at the TDP office at Mangalagiri, Mr. Naidu said that some constituencies were delivering better citizen services and urged all 175 Assembly constituencies to emulate it.The government was foregoing revenue of nearly ₹1,000 crore per annum by providing free sand to people, Mr. Naidu said and directed officials to prevent diversion of sand to other States. “The sand reaches should be monitored closely,” he said.Referring to the liquor policy, Mr. Naidu accused the previous YSRCP government of distorting the system and promoting spurious brands, claiming that 30,000 people had lost their lives. “Our government has ensured transparency in sales,” he said.With liquor tenders nearing completion, the existing outlets would be renewed, but retailers would not be allowed to sell liquor even ₹1 above the MRP, the Chief Minister said. He warned that strict action would be taken for any irregularities, adding that MLAs were responsible for setting things right in their constituencies.Mr. Naidu asked the party leaders to counter the fake propaganda with facts and make use of technology to reach out to the people.He instructed the MLAs to take up the pressing issues in the constituencies promptly instead of waiting for complaints. Pointing out that land disputes accounted for a major share of public grievances, he directed the officials to complete the cleansing of land records across the State by March 2027.Mr. Naidu called for effective resolution of grievances received through the Real Time Governance Society (RTGS), with complaints followed up from the field level to the State level.“A political leader should remain close to people. Even voice messages can help maintain contact. Responding to people’s problems with humanity will create a positive perception,” he said.He said policymakers should consider the aspirations of Gen Z and anticipate the economic conditions and challenges likely to emerge a decade from now. Health, education and liveability should be key priorities for improving quality of life, he said.Referring to issues raised at the previous leadership meeting, Mr. Naidu said the government had sanctioned 616 works worth ₹20,400 crore across all 175 constituencies after reviewing the proposals.
