The two-day State committee meeting of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] ended in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday (September 8, 2026) after it “unanimously” passed the report prepared by the State secretariat on the measures to be taken to strengthen the party in Keralam. Briefing the media after the meeting, State secretary M.V. Govindan said the extended State committee meeting in Kozhikode from September 13, 2026 would discuss both the central committee’s review of the election results and the State committee’s report with a view to preparing a practical action plan for course correction. This would be the culmination of a massive self-critical review undertaken by the party at all levels in the wake of the electoral debacle in May.307 delegatesA total of 307 delegates, including State committee members, invitees and representatives of class and mass organisations, would participate in the extended State committee meeting, he said. While hostile news reporting against the party continued, there was novelty in that too, he said, pointing to a news item which claimed that copies of the draft report were not circulated among members to prevent leakage. “As is the practice, we have given copies to everyone,” he said.
