HYDERABADSeveral Congress MLAs and Ministers condemned the two Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLCs’ objectionable comments allegedly made against the Speaker, including use of abusive language in front of the Assembly entrance on Monday and demanded stern action against them. They also criticised other BRS legislators’ ‘behaviour’.Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said in the Assembly on Tuesday that the institution of the Speaker represents dignity, freedom and liberty of not only the House but the State and making any comments against the Speaker amounts to contempt of the House. He alleged that the BRS legislators had implemented the conspiracy hatched at the Erravelli farmhouse on September 6 and the main culprit was the BRS leadership.Observing that there was a need to keep such ‘conspirators’ away from the society, he recollected that he was denied the Leader of the Opposition status by the then ruling BRS by encouraging defections from the Congress to BRS.Another Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha, who moved the resolution demanding action against the two MLCs — Tata Madhusudhan and N. Naveen Kumar Reddy — said that BRS president and Leader of the Opposition K. Chandrasekhar Rao must take the responsibility and apologise to the Speaker on behalf of his party’s members unconditionally.Floor Leader of the AIMIM Akbaruddin Owaisi said there was a need to move a resolution requesting the Legislative Council Chairman for suspension of the BRS members who made the comments against the Speaker. He also condemned the ‘ill treatment’ of women legislators of the BRS by a few police officers on Monday.He sought to know how could the Chair allow members of the Treasury Benches to display photographs, which amount to placards, when the police prevented BRS legislators from entering the Legislature premises by wearing black t-shirts with slogans printed on them.Minister for Legislative Affairs D. Sridhar Babu, however, said citing the rules of conduct made by the previous government that members could display photos in the House with the permission of the Speaker.Lone member from the Communist Party of India (CPI) K. Sambasiva Rao felt that BRS seniors should have taken the erring MLCs to the Speaker’s chambers and made them apologise for their behaviour and express apology. He too suggested that action be taken against those members.Congress members N. Padmavathi Reddy, T. Rammohan Reddy, J. Anirudh Reddy, Ch. Vijayaramana Rao, Adi Srinivas, M. Ragamayi, M. Yashaswini Reddy, M. Sathyam, and Danam Nagender also demanded action against the BRS legislators and wanted the Chair to summon LoP KCR to the House and apologise on behalf of his party members.
