Representatives of the Chennai GPO Pensioners Forum on Tuesday met the 8th Central Pay Commission in Chennai and discussed a range of demands concerning pensioners and postal employees.The forum sought restoration of the Old Pension Scheme, enhancement of pension and family pension, relief on recovery of commutation amounts, revision of MACP benefits, improved allowances and leave benefits, and stronger social security measures.It also sought a permanent wage revision mechanism, a minimum wage of ₹68,000 and the introduction of running scales in place of the existing pay matrix system.The representatives also highlighted the need for better pay scales and career progression for postal employees, along with measures to address the concerns of women employees and persons with disabilities.The Commission heard the representations and assured the forum that the demands would be considered.
