All partners in the Ukraine Defense Contact Group must step up their defense support for the country in its fight against Russian aggression.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte made the statement at the beginning of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting (in the Ramstein format) on September 8, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.
“We must continue to support Ukraine’s security and help them defend against Russia’s brutal attacks. That means supporting Ukraine with utmost urgency, and let me say that delays simply cost human lives,” Rutte stressed.
He noted that the number of civilian casualties in Ukraine is currently the highest recorded since May 2022.
“Today, I will be urging all nations to step up their support. Allies, as we know, promised €70 billion in Ankara, and this will require more bilateral support to achieve. Nations must dig deeper, we do not have a choice, I believe,” the Secretary General said.
