The United Kingdom will contribute £100 million to the PURL initiative to ensure the rapid delivery of Patriot missiles and other air defense systems to Ukraine this winter.
UK Secretary of State for Defence Wes Streeting announced this during the 36th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein format, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
“Today I am announcing a £100 million contribution to PURL to support for rapid delivery of air-defense interceptors this winter,” Streeting said.
The British minister also reported progress toward London’s commitment to provide Ukraine with 120,000 drones over the course of this year.
“We are also making strong progress against the commitment made by my predecessors to provide 120,000 drones to Ukraine this year. We have delivered over 25,000 drones so far, with thousands more to be delivered before winter. Those cover a whole range of capabilities that will help Ukraine take the fight directly to Russia, defend itself by taking out Russian drones, and also to see what’s happening on the battlefield and behind the enemy lines,” he said.
