Huawei's tri-fold Mate XT2 starts at $2,980 while Xiaomi's 18 Fold begins at $1,540, with Apple set to unveil new iPhones on Wednesday

Huawei and Xiaomi each introduced new high-end foldable smartphones on Monday, sharpening the rivalry in China's premium handset segment just days before Apple $AAPL's product event.
Huawei unveiled the Mate XT2, a tri-fold device that opens from both sides into a tablet-sized screen. The device is powered by the Kirin 9050 Pro chip and includes a redesigned hinge, enhanced dust and water resistance, and a privacy screen to block sightlines from bystanders, the company said. Sales begin September 12, with prices starting at 19,999 yuan ($2,980) and reaching 24,999 yuan ($3,725) for the top-end version.
