The tribunal found eight allegations proven against Ms Petkova regarding incidents at Castleford House Nursing Home in Chepstow between January and October 2023. Among the misconduct, she claimed a resident with dementia did not require a birthday cake because they would not remember it, suggesting staff eat it instead. Further proven allegations included shouting at residents to shut up and telling one resident their daughter would not visit unless they finished their dinner. The panel concluded that Ms Petkova showed a deep-seated dismissive attitude and no remorse, making a striking-off order necessary to protect public confidence.
