A special edition of the Nintendo Switch 2 is coming on 29 October, 2026.It features a special green and golden design that has the triforce on it.There will also be a special edition Pro Controller and Carry Case.There's no word on pricing yet.8th Sep15:28 BSTZelda Notes will be compatible with Ocarina of TimeNintendo confirms that the Zelda Notes app for smartphones will be compatible with the Ocarina of Time.You can view completed quests, automatic screenshots, and in-game stats like enemies defeated, time played and mroe.There are also hints for where to go next in the game.There's a point system that can be spent on new music tracks from the Ocarina of TIme soundtrack.It even includes a tutorial for how to play the Ocarina.8th Sep15:25 BSTOcarina of Time release date revealedNintendo confirms what we've all been waiting for - the release date.The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time will release on Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026.8th Sep15:24 BSTYou can teach Link new Ocarina songs by humming them to the Switch 2Nintendo shows that you can use the Switch 2's microphones to hum iconic Zelda tunes and the Ocarina will play them back to you.This can do things like change the time of day or summon horses.8th Sep15:23 BSTLink explores Hyrule TownLink is now having a wander around Hyrule Town, which has been massively expanded versus the original.Nintendo explains that there are plenty of mini-games to take part in, as well as NPCs to chat to.They also clarify that time still progresses while you're in town with a full day-night cycle.8th Sep15:21 BSTFirst look at Hyrule FieldLink has emerged into Hyrule Field, the massive main hub of the game. It looks stunning, while retaining that same vast feel of the original game.Nintendo has retained the rolling feature to travel faster, which transitions into a dash feature so Link can get around the world faster.Link is currently approaching Hyrule Castle.8th Sep15:20 BSTNintendo confirms loading screens are intentionalThere will be loading screens as Link moves between different areas of the game. Nintendo says this is intentional design to keep the game feeling true to the original.8th Sep15:18 BSTLink gets the Fairy SlingshotNintendo shows how Link will be able to swap between items with a single button.The Fairy Slingshot can be aimed using motion controls, or via locking on with the same lock-on button as melee combat.8th Sep15:17 BSTNavi returns and combat gameplayAh, there's that familiar 'Hey, listen!'.Nintendo is now showing how Navi can provide tips and tutorials for how to defeat enemies in the game.The gameplay shows Link locking onto an enemy, swiping enemies with his sword, stunning enemies with Deku nuts and dodging incoming attacks.Nintendo says the attacks feel more responsive and satisfying versus the original.8th Sep15:14 BSTOcarina of Time controls have been completely modernisedNintendo notes how they've added a dedicated jump button to the Ocarina of Time remake.You can now also swim, wasn't possible in the original game. The gameplay shows Link diving to find a hidden rupee.Of course, the camera can be fully controlled too, as is the case with most modern 3D titles.8th Sep15:13 BSTNext up, Ocarina of Time remakeNintendo is now moving on to showcase the Ocarina of Time remake, which was announced earlier in the year.They're showcasing the game in realtime. First impressions are that the visuals are completely different from the original, looking far better on the Nintendo Switch 2.It's claimed that the art style was chosen to provide a more 'nostalgic' representation of the game.8th Sep15:10 BSTA Zelda concert is comingNintendo will be hosting a Legend of Zelda Orchestral concert over the course of next year.It'll first occur across Japan with North American and Europe dates arriving in 2027.8th Sep15:09 BSTThere's a bunch of new memorabilia to collectThe Direct just sped through a bunch of new collectibles that will be releasing over the next year.To name a few, there's a new Amiibo, a playable Ocarina, and a new LEGO set of Link riding Eponia.8th Sep15:07 BSTThe Legend of Zelda movie releases on April 30The Legend of Zelda will officially release in theatres on April 30, 2027.It will simply be titled 'The Legend of Zelda'. Miyamoto says the lack of a subtitle will become obvious after gamers see the movie.Miyamoto is involved in the live action movie directly.There's no trailer yet, but Miyamoto says more information will arrive in the coming months.8th Sep15:06 BSTShigeru Miyamoto is hereThe creator of The Legend of Zelda, Shigeru Miyamoto, joins the Direct to address players. He thanks players for their dedication to the series over the last 40 years.He promises a bunch of 'initiatives' coming over the next year to celebrate the game's anniversary.Next up, a tease for the live action movie coming next April.8th Sep15:02 BSTFirst up, an orchestral performanceNintendo kicks off the stream with an orchestral performance of some of The Legend of Zelda's most iconic pieces of music in celebration of the 40th anniversary. It's currently running a bunch of adverts for Nintendo Online with the Zelda content set to start at 3pm BST.Here's the link if you want to watch along live:8th Sep14:47 BSTWhat are we expecting to be shown?Nintendo hasn't officially confirmed what we can expect to see at the Zelda 40th anniversary Direct, but we can make a few educated guesses.It's highly likely that we'll see gameplay footage of the anticiapted Ocarina of Time remake that was announced earlier this summer.
