Jaguar Land Rover said it plans to lay off some 4,000 staff over the next two years, as it deals with long-term issues including a major cyber-attack last year, the transition to electric vehicles, competition from Chinese SUVs and US tariffs.
JLR employs 44,000 people, 34,000 of them in the UK, and the cuts are to affect the 26,000 UK staff who are salaried and management workers.
The Coventry-headquartered company has factories in Solihull, Warwickshire and Merseyside.
