McVitie's has launched its latest limited edition flavour of Jaffa Cakes - with the iconic chocolate sponge snack taking on a new form as we head towards autumn15:50, 07 Sep 2026Iceland shoppers are eagerly anticipating a brand new flavour of McVitie's Jaffa Cakes, arriving just in time as the evenings get shorter and autumn approaches. The much-loved treats have been a staple of British snacking for nearly 100 years, having first rolled off the production line at McVitie and Price back in 1927.‌Comprising three distinct layers - a Genoise sponge base, orange-flavoured jam, and a chocolate coating - Jaffa Cakes remain one of Britain's most cherished snacks. Over the decades, McVitie's has periodically launched a string of limited edition flavours, including pineapple, cherry, passionfruit and even cola bottle.‌In May, meanwhile, McVitie's introduced mango flavour Jaffa Cakes on a temporary basis, which the new taste appears to have replaced.‌Indeed, the exciting new addition to the line-up has been spotted on the shelves of frozen food retailer Iceland, by popular social media foodie account New Food Spotter UK.The new flavour causing a stir is Spiced Orange. "NEW Spiced Orange Jaffa cakes now in Iceland and Food Warehouse," they wrote in their caption.Content cannot be displayed without consent‌Promoting the product on their website, Iceland writes: "McVitie's Jaffa Cakes: chocolate on top, sponge on the bottom, and that warming spiced orange flavour bit in the middle."Suitable for Vegetarians. No hydrogenated vegetable oil. No artificial colours or flavours. Orange Spice is Always Nice, Every Bite a Warming Delight!".Iceland is currently selling packs at an introductory price of just £1.25 - a saving of 25p on the RRP.‌It follows McVitie's decision to make a selection of its iconic biscuits "healthier". Indeed, Jaffa Cakes are among several biscuits that could have their recipes altered including Digestives, Chocolate Digestives, Hobnobs, Rich Tea and Ginger Nuts.Parent company, Pladis plans to change existing recipes so that more of its products contain less sugar, salt and saturated fat. Products could also be reformulated to contain higher levels of fibre and protein. It is yet to be confirmed by Pladis which individual recipes will be changed or when reformulated products could reach supermarket shelves. However, the company said it wanted to double the sales volume of products offering what it considers a "better nutritional balance" by 2030.Article continues belowMeanwhile, McVitie's states online: "1927.
