inDrive Nigeria has moved to strengthen its position in the country’s ride-hailing market following Uber’s decision to exit, saying it is ready to absorb drivers, mobility investors, and passengers affected by the departure.
Timothy Oladimeji, country director, inDrive Nigeria, said the company was surprised by Uber’s decision but viewed the development as an opportunity to further deepen its presence in one of its most important African markets.
“Uber has been a strong and significant competitor, and we have always welcomed competition because it drives us to continuously improve our products and services for the benefit of our users,” Oladimeji said in a statement.
The company said Nigeria remains a key market in its African operations, with its active user base growing year-on-year.
inDrive currently operates across Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Benin City, Ibadan, Owerri, and Enugu, giving it a presence in several of Nigeria’s major urban mobility markets.
