Thomas Walkup is leaving Olympiakos Piraeus after five seasons to join Dubai Basketball on a three-year contract, the Greek club said.
Olympiakos said it had reached an agreement with Dubai Basketball for the transfer of the 33-year-old guard, ending a spell in which Walkup helped the team win 12 titles, make five consecutive EuroLeague Final Four appearances and claim the European championship last May.
Dubai Basketball had approached Walkup while he was still under contract with Olympiakos. The Greek club initially objected to his departure because his contract did not include a buyout clause.
Walkup subsequently unilaterally terminated his contract, according to reports, but the three parties eventually reached an agreement that paved the way for an official transfer.
Walkup is expected to earn $9.6 million gross over the three years of his contract with Dubai Basketball, according to reports.
