ALBAWABA - Kim Jong Un has vowed to build a nuclear-armed navy as well as promising an ‘important plan’ that he will reveal to the world in eight months.The North Korean dictator made the statement as US allies began their maritime naval training involving Japan, South Korea and the United States – the drills were established in 2023 in what officials called an effort to deter Pyongyang's missile and nuclear threat in South Korean island of Jeju.Kim made the comments at the commissioning ceremony of the Kang Kon, one of two 5,000-ton class warships launched last year with his daughter and purported heir, Ju Ae, present;"We should make sure that the diversified and effective operation of nuclear combat systems is conducted for an actual war through developing our navy into a nuclear armed force," Kim reportedly told the ceremony."Once ordered anytime, the new-generation destroyer should deal a deadly retaliatory blow at the enemies as it is a force involved in the state nuclear counteraction system," he said.North Korea Commissions Second Nuclear-Linked DestroyerNorth Korea commissioned its second 5,000-ton destroyer in Wonsan, the Kang Kon, with Kim Jong Un calling it part of the country's nuclear response system capable of "annihilating retaliatory strikes."…— Clash Report (@clashreport) September 7, 2026 Kim also ominously added that he was working on an “important plan” to strengthen its navy that would be demonstrated to the world "in eight months".Lim Eul-chul, a professor at Kyungnam University said that the statement could be the unveiling of a new submarine capable of carrying submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs).Whatever it is, it seems that the world will have to wait until May of 2027 to find out.
