Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered the dismantling of illegal settler outposts in the occupied West Bank under US pressure.

The order targets outposts built without official state authorisation, with Israeli media reporting approximately 100 outposts would be affected.

More than 500,000 Israelis live in the West Bank alongside roughly three million Palestinians, who represent 85 per cent of the area's population.

US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee visited a West Bank Palestinian town amid rising settler violence, calling perpetrators "terrorists" who should face serious consequences.
