A Jerusalem man was shot in the neighborhood of Givat Shaul on Sunday evening, in what turned out to be a robbery gone wrong, according to initial police investigations.

United Hatzalah responders reported treating a 19-year-old with a gunshot wound, noting that he was taken to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in serious condition.

Initial police investigations indicate that the robber was the one who was shot by one of his would-be victims.

Police confirmed that the event is being treated as a criminal incident and is still under investigation.

The Jerusalem shooting came a day after a separate fatal shooting in Netanya, where Border Police officer Sgt. David Hoyer Amrani, 20, was shot and killed in the Kiryat Hasharon neighborhood.
