British racing driver says he ‘owes his life’ to rival who rescued him from burning car after crash

British racing driver Ollie Millroy said that he owes “his life” to rival driver Loek Hartog after the Dutchman rescued him from his burning car during a China GT Championship race on Saturday.At the 20-minute mark into the GT3 race at the Shanghai International circuit, Neil Verhagen’s BMW and David Chen’s Ferrari came together towards the end of the track’s long back straight, with the pair losing control of their cars and sliding into the path of Millroy’s AAI Motorsports Ferrari, forcefully striking it from the side.Millroy’s car burst into flames and spun into the barriers. Footage circulated on social media appears to show Hartog immediately stopping his car before pulling off part of the door on Millroy’s vehicle. He appears to then find a fire extinguisher to put out the flames, before pulling the 35-year-old from the car.The race was red flagged and Millroy was later shown on the broadcast sat down against a barrier while being attended to by medical staff.
