Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar emphasised that students should not just become employees, but also become employers. “Our state has a good talent pool compared to any other State in the country and we want students to make the most of this expo to reach at a global level,” he said, speaking at the second edition of Study Abroad Expo organised by the Government of Karnataka in the city on Sunday.“Leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, B.R. Ambedkar, and Raja Ram Mohan Roy have studied abroad and led our country. The Karnataka government has provided this opportunity for students to choose and study in various foreign universities,” he said.“More than 80 universities have participated in this expo, providing opportunities for study in more than 300 subjects. In addition, special scholarships are being provided by various government departments. Various banks are providing assistance and loan facilities of up to ₹2 crore. Students of the state should make good use of this opportunity,” he said. “There are around 140 international schools in India of which 38 schools are in Bengaluru. Such diversity of schools and students studying there is the strength of the State,” he added.Meanwhile, Sharan Prakash Patil, Minister for Skill development, Entrepreneurship, and Livelihood, Medical Education, said, “The intention behind this programme is to connect aspiring students with international universities on a common platform and make their journey hassle free. A lot of students had also complained us how they were cheated of money by private organisations by promising them to send to foreign universities for higher studies.
