The Federal Government has commenced nationwide mobilisation for the second cohort of its Student Venture Capital Grant (S-VCG), with 50 student-led ventures expected to receive up to N50 million each in equity-free funding, translating to a potential N2.5 billion support package.
Adebayo Onigbanjo, National Project Coordinator of the S-VCG, disclosed this at a press briefing on Friday ahead of the campus mobilisation campaign scheduled to run from September 6 to 30, 2026.
The programme, being implemented under the Federal Ministry of Education, is designed to help Nigerian students with innovative ideas move from the development stage to viable businesses by combining equity-free funding with mentorship, industry connections and business support.
Onigbanjo said the mobilisation campaign would take the opportunity directly to tertiary institutions across the country, particularly targeting students developing solutions in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine (STEMM).
The campaign will cover nine tertiary institutions across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, including the University of Abuja, Nile University, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, Bayero University Kano, Kano University of Science and Technology, Wudil, Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, University of Lagos and Covenant University, Ota.
