But sometimes, you might not realise the value of something until you've actually bought it.‌This was the case for one woman, who realised she'd hit the jackpot after finding a pretty frame in her local charity shop. Tatiana Brito was browsing through her local Goodwill charity shop in Gary, Indiana when a silver-coloured frame caught her eye.‌Not thinking much of it at the time besides that it looked nice, she decided to bring it home with her. But when she got to her car, she decided to take a closer look at it."But once I got in my car and really took a look at it, I realized the stamp and then read the sticker," she told Newsweek, which is the moment she decided to make a video for her TikTok."And I bought this for myself cause I'm like, oh my god, this is such a beautiful frame, you know?" she said in the video, where she showed the frame. " And then I realize. Along with the sticker, Brito found a stamp of the number 950, indicating the frame was made from sterling silver, which contains 95 percent pure silver.While Sterling silver normally is made of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals, usually copper, the 950 stamp means it contains 95% pure silver and 5% other metals.‌As of September 2026, the melt value of sterling silver is roughly £1.44 per gram (£44.68 per troy ounce), but as the frame is made of a higher percentage of silver, the sterling silver in the frame is actually worth approximately £39.73 per gram or £1,126.31 per troy ounce. Because of its value, it's often a highly sought after material for bargain shoppers.Brito said she paid "less than a dollar" for the frame but could be set for a sizable return.
