Doma United maintained their perfect start to the new Nigeria Premier Football League season with a 1-0 win over fellow newcomers Inter Lagos at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Saturday, as Rilwanu Sadiq’s second-half strike proved enough to settle the Matchday Two encounter.
The only goal of the game arrived in the 71st minute, when Sadiq found the back of the net to hand the Savannah Tigers a lead they would not relinquish.
The result means Doma United have now won both of their opening fixtures since securing promotion to the top flight, following a 2-0 victory over Sporting Lagos on the opening weekend.
Inter Lagos, meanwhile, remain without a point after two matches, having also lost their season opener 2-1 to Shooting Stars. The defeat continues a difficult run for the Lagos side, who have now suffered three losses in their last five competitive matches stretching back to last season, though they had won all but one of their previous 10 home fixtures over the same period.
