Oklahoma State lost to Tulsa last season and fired coach Mike Gundy four days later in the middle of his 21st season in Stillwater.Saturday, in its new coach’s debut, Oklahoma State fell to the in-state Golden Hurricane again, extending the longest current losing streak in the FBS to 12.This time, Tulsa knocked off visiting Oklahoma State 24-10 in the season opener for both teams. Tulsa, a member of the American Conference, hadn’t beaten Oklahoma State in consecutive games since 1951-52.Oklahoma State coach Eric Morris told OSU’s radio network at halftime his team — which featured an NCAA-record 92 new players — played “as bad as you can play,” he said.Tulsa, which entered the game as 13.5-point underdogs, won despite converting just one third down on 11 attempts. It forced four Oklahoma State turnovers and committed just one.“I expected to win the game,” Tulsa coach Tre Lamb said, adding he didn’t like a lot of the mistakes his team made and the final score could have been 30-10 or 37-10.“We’re so much better than last year,” Lamb told The Athletic on Saturday night after the victory. “We knew it was going to be hot, and I felt like our guys were in better shape and I thought we had better players on the line of scrimmage. That was the difference. We dominated up front.”
