Firefighters are currently battling a major blaze in Barnsley where locals across the region say can be seen for miles.
Ten fire engines and several specialist vehicles are attending a fire on Boulder Bridge Lane in Carlton, Barnsley. The blaze is believed to be affecting a scrap metal and tyres site.
South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said in a statement it is working to bring the incident under control. Residents are being urged to avoid the area and keep their windows and doors closed due to a "large amount of smoke".
Firefighters remain at the scene of the blaze as they continue efforts to bring the incident under control.
At this stage, the fire service has not released further details about the cause of the fire or any reported injuries.
