LOS ANGELES — Shohei Ohtani is out of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ starting lineup for the third straight game as the team continues to weigh the possibility of placing the two-way star on the injured list.This marks the first time Ohtani has not started three consecutive games in his Dodgers tenure. Manager Dave Roberts said how Ohtani feels Sunday could decide whether he ends up on the IL.“My expectation is he’s going to hit today in the cage,” Roberts said before Saturday’s game against the Washington Nationals. “I think that once he hits, how he comes out of it will be telling for tomorrow.”Third baseman Max Muncy (illness) and catcher Dalton Rushing (right elbow discomfort) were also late scratches to the lineup. Rushing’s sudden unavailability is especially noteworthy, as he had been building up his arm after missing nearly a month with a right UCL tear. He had not been cleared to return behind the plate, but the Dodgers were confident Rushing would be able to ramp up a throwing program while serving as their primary left-handed bench bat.
