Leeds United maintained their unbeaten start to the 2026-27 season with a hard-fought point at Brighton & Hove Albion.Wing-back Jayden Bogle popped up in the right place at the right time to seize on Ao Tanaka’s cutback across the face of the Brighton goal and give Daniel Farke’s side an early first-half lead.Leeds were unable to build on their first-half advantage, and Brighton roared back, equalising through a Luka Vuskovic header in the 71st minute and keeping their foot on the gas throughout the remainder of the contest.But Farke’s men were able to reflect on a well-earned draw, which leaves them on five points from their opening three games of the season. The Sweden international was excellent for Leeds on his return to the fray.Gudmundsson had been missing since pre-season, when he picked up a hamstring injury. He returned to the bench against Brentford last weekend, but was not needed.With Joe Rodon injured, James Justin was required on the right of central defence and Gudmundsson returned as left wing-back, allowing that to happen. He carried with purpose down the flank, recovered more balls (nine) than anyone else on the pitch, won 50-50s, and offered penetration in the final third.He will have been disappointed to lose the gigantic Vuskovic under a corner for the equaliser, but his all-round game brought a lot for the visitors.Gudmundsson was so reliable for Leeds last season, and they need that from him again this term as they try to improve their position.
