Liam and Noel Gallagher are in Venice promoting their new film Don't Look Back In Anger which launches next month13:56, 05 Sep 2026Updated 14:34, 05 Sep 2026Liam and Noel Gallagher made a dramatic entrance to the Venice Film Festival as they launched their new Oasis film Don’t Look Back In Anger ahead of its premiere tonight.‌The brothers, who toured with their band Oasis last year for the first time in almost two decades, showed they were still back on friendly terms as they arrived via water boat and then posed for a photocall alongside directors Will Lovelace and Dylan Southern.‌Punching his fist in the air, Liam looked ready to party as Noel waved at the crowds from the water taxi.‌The pair are in Venice for the weekend and will attend the world premiere of the two hour documentary which charts Oasis first tour in almost two decades.The Oasis reunion tour was announced in August 2024, 15 years after their dramatic split in 2009, which was prompted by a backstage brawl between Noel and brother Liam at the Rock en Seine festival in France.‌It went on to be one of the most eagerly awaited comeback tours in musical history and the band received five star reviews around the world.Directors Will Lovelace and Dylan Southern have done their best to capture the emotions of the fans and well as the incredible sound of the band, with the documentary featuring 12 concerts over three continents.Ahead of the screening and cinema release next week, the film’s directors told how the on-screen reunion between the brothers is not an overly emotional affair, despite the reconciliation being after more than a decade apart.‌Co-director Dylan Southern told Variety: “It’s the Gallaghers, it’s not ‘Dawson’s Creek.’ They’re not gonna sit down and talk about their emotions.”‌However he thinks the fans love and reaction to the shows helped repair their relationship further. He added: “It became very clear, very early on, that this was a film about forgiveness, and the healing power of music not just for Liam and Noel, but universally.“Our job was to create a concert film that interweaved a visceral sense of what it felt like to be at these incredible shows, with a relatable human story of reconciliation. In a way that story told itself through the footage - the joy and elation of the fans contributed directly to the reconciliation of Liam and Noel. You could see them getting closer, night by night on stage.”The film also features the first joint interview between Noel and Liam for over two decades.‌“We know fans will love seeing Liam and Noel sitting together for their first joint interview in over 20 years,” said Southern.“It’s a joy to see them laughing and reminiscing; they’re both natural comedians, and there’s a candidness to it that we think will surprise and disarm people.”‌On rehearsals, which the band filmed with remote cameras to avoid being in the room and ruining the vibe, director Lovelace added: “It was amazing to watch. It was so interesting hearing the music come together, having not heard them play as a band for 15/16 years, but also seeing them reconnecting. It was a privileged view.”The documentary creator and writer is Steven Knight and he is confident Oasis fans will enjoy reliving the Summer of 2025.He said: “Nothing in this documentary has been seen before, and could not have been seen anywhere else.‌“What I think got to Liam and Noel the most was seeing the mothers and daughters and the fathers and sons, in particular, and seeing how they reacted emotionally to the music, which meant their parents had been continuing to play their music over the years. So, for a lot of the new generation, it represented their relationship with their parents, especially the fathers and sons who often don’t tend to speak to each other openly, and their music was like a bridge between them. So, when Noel and Liam were seeing fathers and sons hugging each other, that’s what they found very moving.”The brothers along with the rest of the 2025 line up of the band, which included long term members Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs, Gem Archer and Andy Bell, will tour again in 2027 with dates expected to be officially announced in the coming days.Thanks to teaser videos fans have worked out the band will play Celtic Park in Glasgow and the Mirror has previously confirmed plans to play at the Etihad stadium in Manchester and a return to Knebworth where they previously played massive gigs.Article continues belowAsked if they were touring on Talksport earlier this week, Noel said: “Let's put it this way: there's no football tournament on next year, so we've got to do summer in the summer, right?”* Oasis: Don't Look Back In Anger opens in IMAX and UK Cinema on September 9.Like this story?
