Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield wants to beat every team, of course — that's in his nature. But he's always been known to have a brutal chip on his shoulder for any perceived slight, so there are some teams where a victory would feel sweeter. There are plenty of teams like that on Tampa Bay's roster — his beef with Atlanta Falcons coach Kevin Stefanski is well known, and he also gets to face one of his former teams, the Carolina Panthers, once per year. But none of those teams are quite so reviled in Mayfield's mind as the first team that drafted him and then cast him aside in 2022.That team is the Cleveland Browns. The Bucs play them in Week 2, and in a recent podcast appearance, Mayfield reiterated that he and the Bucs have that one circled.Mayfield Ready for Browns Matchup in Week 2Mayfield recently spoke on the Green Light with Chris Long podcast with former Buccaneers Beau Allen, and when asked which games on the calendar he had circled, the first one he mentioned was an obvious one."First home game's Cleveland," Mayfield said. "I mean, there's no way to sugarcoat that one. That one means a lot. For it to be the first home game, I think also is exciting, you know, for the new-look team that we have."Mayfield was drafted by the Browns with the No. 1 overall pick in 2018 and played for them for just over three seasons. He won a playoff game with the team in 2020, but after a shoulder injury derailed his season in 2021, he was traded and moved out in favor of current quarterback Deshaun Watson, who is currently starting for Cleveland. Mayfield played for the Carolina Panthers and briefly for the Los Angeles Rams before coming to Tampa Bay.Since leaving the Browns, Mayfield has played them just once, when he started at quarterback for the Panthers against them in Week 1 of the 2022 season. The Browns beat him that game 26-24, and Mayfield threw for 235 yards, one touchdown and one interception.Mayfield has yet to play the Browns since that game, and it's certainly something he's thought about. He revitalized his career in Tampa Bay, and although he's gotten plenty of chances at revenge against the Panthers, he'll now get to play the Browns in red and pewter for the first time in his career. The Bucs will first play the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1 on Sept. 13 on the road.
