Usman Amalare, a product operations expert and business analyst at 10Alytics, has said logistics in emerging markets is fundamentally an information transfer problem before it is a movement problem.
Amalare said this while speaking on how product operations and data-driven execution are reshaping last-mile delivery across sub-Saharan Africa’s booming e-commerce hubs, noting that the hardest battle for platforms is not acquiring the customer, but navigating the final two kilometres.
He said despite massive venture capital flows into logistics tech over the past decade, last-mile fulfilment remained plagued by high order-cancellation rates, unpredictable delivery windows and fractured merchant-carrier communications.
According to him, while most platforms have responded to the challenge by throwing more fleets at the problem, the last-mile crisis is not an infrastructure deficit, but an execution and product operations deficit.
“When an order drops in last-mile delivery, it is rarely because a bike wasn’t available.
