ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa says the party is considering the Electoral Court as it seeks a solution to technical problems that affected candidate-list submissions in three provinces.
President Cyril Ramaphosa says the ANC is considering approaching the Electoral Court over what the party alleges were technical glitches that affected the submission of some of its candidate lists ahead of the November 4 local government elections.
The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) has rejected the ANC’s claims, saying there were no reports of a non-functional system when nominations closed at 5pm on August 28.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the ANC's door-to-door campaign in Tembisa, Ekurhuleni, on Friday, Ramaphosa said the problems were linked to the interface with the Electoral Commission of South Africa's (IEC) candidate-capture system.
“There were some glitches, glitches with regard to just the interface with the IEC system. The candidates' list was there for the whole country. They were submitted, and in regard to those areas there were some glitches,” Ramaphosa said.
