Nigeria international Femi Azeez will have to wait for his Brighton and Hove Albion debut, but there was better news on the injury front for the Super Eagles as Frank Onyeka made his return to contention at Coventry City.
Azeez has been ruled out of Brighton’s Premier League clash with Leeds United at the Amex Stadium on Saturday because of a hamstring problem, while Onyeka has been passed fit for Coventry’s trip to Manchester City after missing two matches.
Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler confirmed that Azeez, who completed a deadline-day move from Millwall on a four-year contract until June 2030, picked up the injury on the opening day of the Championship season before his move, and is still not ready to feature.
“Femi is obviously carrying a slight injury at the moment. I think Chema can definitely be an option for tomorrow. With Femi, we have to wait this weekend and hopefully he will be available for the next game,” Hurzeler said.
The Brighton boss also praised the qualities the winger will bring to the squad once fit.
