Ibironke Ajide and her husband

How did you meet your husband?

We met at church. We were in the drama department together. He was the director of the drama group. At first, he didn’t say anything to me. He just started sending different messages. From those messages, I started thinking about what he was up to. I didn’t give in. It was getting to a year before he came to me. I told him I would think about it and get back to him. After a month, he reached out again, but I told him I was still thinking about it. Actually, he was somebody I liked so much, but I had to play that kind of hard-to-get stuff. So later, I said yes.

What features did you like about him?

He dresses very neatly. Growing up, I liked neatness. So, I had been aspiring that any man that I would marry had to be very neat. He knows how to iron his clothes very neatly. He is eloquent, calm, patient, and has a good listening ear. And you know, if you are a person that talks or you like to gist, even though the person will not be like you, that listening aspect is crucial.
