A mattress or sheet set that traps allergens can turn an ordinary night into hours of coughing, congestion or a stuffy nose. Shradha Agarwal, an allergist and immunologist who practices in New York City at Mount Sinai Hospital, said certain mattress and sheet materials resist allergens far better than others, though sensitivity varies from person to person.
Consumer Reports tested three mattresses and two sheet sets recommended by Agarwal, so people managing asthma or allergies can choose bedding that actually helps them breathe easier at night.
