One of the most poignant sights when being shown around Manchester United’s shiny new Carrington base last year was the placement of Jadon Sancho’s spot in the training ground dressing room.
At the time, Sancho was part of the famed “bomb squad”, training away from the first team as United desperately searched for someone to take him off their hands. It felt pointed that, while everyone else had their station all kitted out, ready for action, Sancho’s name was right on the end, next to the door, with nothing to signify it was his spot other than his name.
A player United once coveted for two years before making him their fourth-most expensive signing has fallen even further from that humiliation 12 months ago. He has remained a free agent beyond the end of the transfer window.
Having recently been training with 10th-tier Flixton Town, the type of offers left on the table only add to the degradation.
“Yes there is definitely interest,” a source who deals with clubs in the United Arab Emirates told The i Paper.
