Acting on a tip-off, officials of the Food and Civil Supplies Department and the Kodekal police jointly raided a house in R.K. Nagar tanda at Hunsagi taluk in the district and seized 76 bags, weighing 50 kg each, of ration rice meant for government welfare scheme beneficiaries. The value of the seized rice was estimated at ₹1,29,200.According to police sources, the raid was conducted following reliable information regarding illegal hoarding and attempted sale of government-subsidised rice. Acting on instructions from revenue officials, a police team conducted a surprise raid on the evening of September 2, 2026, at around 9.30 p.m.A case has been registered under Sections 3 and 7 of the Essential Commodities Act at the Hunsagi police station against three individuals — Shivanagouda, Timmareddy, and Santosh — for illegally procuring, storing, and attempting to sell government welfare rice.Further investigation is under way.
