So I am a frequent flyer, as you already know. But my trips are often for work, just a few for leisure. Running between raindrops, I am airline hopping, arriving in good enough time for a flight and suffering delays of up to 2 to 4 hours in some instances. When a reliable airline suddenly fails, I find myself buying tickets for another, not-so-reliable airline because I need to go for my meeting in another city.

Once, I bought a ticket for a 3 pm flight to Abuja. When I arrived at the airport, I was told it would now take off at 7 pm. I was infuriated.

In anger, I bought another ticket for 4 pm, which ended up taking off at 6 pm. Completely insane! But I digress!

The Nigerian civil aviation authorities are meant to take care of your flight if cancelled or delayed. Nigerians complain verbally and do not write. While that is not kosher, even verbal complaints should be looked into and addressed.

Today I arrived for my domestic flight and suffered a one-hour delay. While I was dealing with that, I arrived to board and met some resistance.
