Governor Umar Namadi has mourned the death of the Emir of Gumel, Alhaji Dr Ahmed Muhammad Sani II, describing his demise as a monumental loss to the Gumel Emirate, Jigawa State and the nation.
Namadi made the statement through the Secretary to the Jigawa State Government, Bala Ibrahim, while briefing journalists on the death of the Emir at his office in Dutse, the state capital, on Thursday evening.
The revered monarch, who was the 16th Emir of Gumel, reportedly died in Cairo, Egypt, on Thursday after a brief illness while receiving medical care. He was 82.
Confirming the incident, the SSG said the government received the news with shock.
