The Bihar Police arrested a headmaster and a teacher of a government school in Dumraon in connection with a case of alleged sexual abuse of schoolgirls, including minors. Headmaster Mohammad Imam Ali Ansari and teacher Arvind Kumar have been arrested.

One accused teacher from the same school, Virendra Prasad, is still absconding. Both teachers have been charged with sexually abusing the girls, circulating objectionable videos of them and threatening them through audio messages.

The incident occurred under Krishnabrahmn Police Station in Buxar district. An FIR has been lodged on the complaint of the victim’s mother — her daughter is a minor — under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The headmaster was to receive the State Teacher Award 2026 on September 5, on the occasion of Teacher’s Day. Mr. Ansari allegedly aided and abetted the two main accused; following the police action, the Bihar Education Department has withdrawn his name from the State award. The department has also suspended the two accused teachers.

In a press statement, the Buxar DM’s office said the Block Education Officer, Dumraon, had reported serious allegations against Assistant Teacher Virendra Prasad and School Teacher Arvind Kumar, both posted at the Middle School in Dumraon. The allegations included molestation of girl students, circulating objectionable videos and threatening them through audio clips, among others.
