NewsWorld newsAndrew TateAndrew Tate has been indicted in Romania for alleged offences including trafficking minors, money ⁠laundering, sex with a minor and witness tampering10:33, 04 Sep 2026Updated 10:49, 04 Sep 2026Social media influencer Andrew Tate has today been indicted by Romanian prosecutors, years after they first launched an investigation into him and his brother.He was indicted for alleged crimes including trafficking minors, money ⁠laundering, sex with a minor and witness tampering.Tristian Tate was indicted for alleged complicity.Both brothers deny the allegations against them.The brothers, former kickboxers with ⁠dual US and British citizenship, were arrested ⁠in Miami in late ⁠July after Britain requested their extradition over an investigation into alleged sexual offences, which they deny.After the brothers’ arrests on July 18, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said it was bringing further charges against them.Andrew Tate, 39, was charged with seven further counts of rape, three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and 19 additional charges relating to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography.Tristan Tate, 38, was charged with one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.The CPS said the 38 additional charges, in addition to 21 existing charges, relate to alleged offences between July 2010 and August 2017.Eugen Constantin Vidineac, a Romanian lawyer for Andrew and Tristan Tate, said following today's indictment in Romania: “Today’s decision by DIICOT [Romania's Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism] does not determine guilt and it should not be presented as though it does."It represents the prosecution’s latest attempt to bring this case before a court following the failure of its previous indictment to proceed to trial.Article continues below"The history of these proceedings matters. The previous indictment was subjected to judicial scrutiny and the court identified significant irregularities which prevented the case from moving forward to trial."DIICOT has now chosen to file a new indictment.
