The draft electoral roll released by Maharashtra’s Chief Electoral Officer on Tuesday (September 1, 2026) showed a total of 2,06,88,487 voter deletions across the State’s 288 assembly constituencies. after a State-wide Special Intensive Revision (SIR) carried out in the past few months. From an electoral roll of 9,78,54,049 (over 9.78 crore), a total of 7,71,65,562 (79.86%) names were retained, and the remaining 21.14% were deleted due to them being either already enrolled, dead, permanently shifted, or ‘untraceable/absent’.The district of Thane saw the highest share of deletions, with over 38% of the names deleted after the SIR, followed by the districts of Mumbai City (37.2%), Mumbai Suburban (33.95%), Pune (31.97%), Nagpur (31.11%), and Palghar (28.14%).
