Jereem “The Dream” Richards and Keshorn Walcott will fly the Trinidad and Tobago flag at the 2026 Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels, Belgium.At 3.52 this afternoon (T&T time), Richards faces the starter in the Men’s 400 metres event. The eight-man field also includes Botswana’s reigning world champion Collen Kebinatshipi, Great Britain’s 2024 Olympic Games silver medallist Matthew Hudson-Smith, South African Zakithi Nene, Americans Khaleb McRae, Jacory Patterson and Chris Bailey, and Belgium’s Daniel Segers.Richards, who seized silver behind Kebinatshipi at last year’s World Athletics Championships, is currently ranked fifth in the world in the 400. The Point Fortin quarter-miler has been solid this season, diving under 45 seconds six times. A podium spot at the Diamond League Final, however, might well require a sub-44 run.

Richards has a personal best of 43.72 seconds, and is very capable of returning to 43-point territory. His best clocking this season - 44.44 - came at the Herculis EBS Wanda Diamond League meet, in Monaco, on July 10. On August 1, in Glasgow, Scotland, Richards captured Commonwealth Games silver with a 44.82 run.Walcott will be on show tomorrow in the Diamond League Final Men’s javelin event, scheduled to start at 2.40 p.m. (T&T time). The reigning world champion is ranked fifth in the world.Top-ranked Rumesh Pathirage is the favourite for gold. The Sri Lankan has a season’s best throw of 92.62 metres. Walcott’s biggest throw in 2026 is 83.71m. Grenadian Anderson Peters, whose best hurl this year is 86.93m, is also on the start list.
