in custody and two people are injured after he took police on a chase through Perth’s northern suburbs this afternoon.It is understood a number of vehicles were damaged during the police chase - including a taxi - which ended in Doubleview about 2.30pm when the white ute crashed into a bus at the intersection of Huntriss Road and Scarborough Beach Road.Witnesses said they saw the man exit the vehicle, and he was tasered before he was arrested.A man in his thirties was injured in the incident, and a woman in her thirties - who was a bus passenge r- was also injured.She was taken to Charles million to $238.5 million since it was first announced in December.A spokeswoman for Corrective Services Minister Tony Buti told this masthead said the jump from 320 new prison beds to 480 was included in the state budget.“The increase in size of the expansion will help to safely and effectively manage a growing prison population, and continue improving community safety for all Western Australians,” she said.“This change to the project scope has of course required a larger funding commitment and further clarity around the cost of the project has been achieved through the Expression announcing the awarding of a $238.5 million contract to build an extra 480 beds.The cost of the contract is $57.5 million more than the $181 million figure for the medium security prison expansion floated by former Corrective Services Minister Paul Papalia in December.The scope of the project has also increased from two to three new units and 160 beds.Builder Sitzler has been awarded the contract with the new units expected to be completed by 2029.“The Acacia Prison expansion is about more than additional beds; it is about providing facilities, programs, and services that support rehabilitation and help reduce reoffending,” Buti said.“New education, allied health, and industries facilities will provide prisoners with opportunities to develop skills, participate in meaningful activities, and prepare for life beyond custody.“Strengthening the state’s custodial system to meet growing demand will ensure the continued safety and security of staff, prisoners and the been a busy end to 2025 in the Armadale area.Armadale Hospital delivered a record 262 babies in August, with another 280 babies expected to be born there this month.Hospital executive Alisha Thompson confirmed the rumoured record on 6PR’s breakfast program on Friday, saying the hospital was likely bucking falling birth rate trends because of the amount of new housing popping up in the south-east corridor.“It’s a beautiful, thriving community out that way. There’s a lot of demand for our wonderful maternity service with all the new homes going, and it’s one of the fastest growing corridors ... in the whole state,” she said.“The Armadale baby boom is a rate much higher than the rest of the state at the moment.
