Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Whirl Stroke, have neutralised a suspected bandit and arrested five others in separate operations along the Gbise–Igyudu Road in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State and at Peva in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Also, troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have rescued six kidnapped victims during a counter-terrorism operation in Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
According to a statement issued by the Acting Media Officer of JTF Operation Whirl Stroke, Lt Ahmad Zubairu, and made available to journalists on Thursday, troops of Sector 1 were conducting a routine fighting patrol on Wednesday when they encountered two suspected bandits on a motorcycle along the Gbise–Igyudu axis.
“After identification of the armed suspects, troops immediately engaged them, resulting in a fierce exchange of fire.
“During the encounter, one of the suspected bandits was neutralised, while the second suspect fled the scene after being subdued by superior firepower.
