More than 100 underground schools are now operating in Ukraine, providing a full-fledged learning environment for students.

Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Andrii Butenko said this during a television broadcast, according to Ukrinform.

“Currently, 82% of students, if we are talking about schools, can be accommodated in various types of shelters. These are different kinds of shelters – sometimes basic ones, sometimes large open spaces. And we now have more than 100 fully operational underground schools,” he said.

According to Butenko, 131 such shelters are currently under construction across Ukraine and will provide a full-fledged educational process underground.

“Eighteen of them are kindergartens... This year, the state has allocated UAH 6 billion for the construction of such shelters,” the minister said.
