Frankfurt | Volkswagen said it will launch a sweeping overhaul that will see the German car maker slash up to 50,000 jobs, in the face of Chinese competition, high energy prices and the costly transition to electric vehicles.
The plan announced on Thursday (Friday AEST) doubles workforce reductions agreed to across Volkswagen Group brands since late 2024, while also paving the way for the company to slim its vehicle line-up by as much as 50 per cent by 2035.
