Cinema chain Everyman has been boosted by a jump in ticket prices and hits such as The Devil Wears Prada 2 and The Odyssey.
The London-listed company, which runs 49 cinemas in the UK, said admissions totalled 2.6m in the six months to July 2 – up 20.5 per cent on the same period last year.
The average ticket cost £12.97, up 4.1 per cent from £12.46, and cinema-goers spent an average of £11.41 each on food and drink, up 3 per cent.
Revenue rose 23.5 per cent year-on-year to nearly £70million, as it posted profits of £1.9million, having made a £3.4million loss last time around.
But it was cautious about the full-year outlook because of a ‘challenging’ economic environment. Its bigger share of the market in the first half was helped by films such as The Devil Wears Prada 2, Project Hail Mary, Wuthering Heights and Michael.
