Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the dismissal of the deputy heads of the Main Intelligence Directorate (DIU) and the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU).
The head of state made this announcement during a video address, according to Ukrinform.
As Zelensky noted, he spoke with Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko regarding the situation between the Security Service of Ukraine and the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense.
“Two individuals have already been named as suspects—those involved in the shooting: an SSU officer and a DIU officer. All other circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated—going back to the very first day of this whole affair. It is important that the truth comes out. And that such situations do not happen again. Therefore, the heads of these two agencies—the SSU and the Main Intelligence Directorate—will be evaluated based on the results of the internal investigation. Personnel decisions have already been made regarding both agencies—the deputy heads who are responsible for this situation will be dismissed. This is entirely fair: both agencies must be held accountable; both agencies acted in a way that is absolutely unacceptable,” Zelensky said.
