Joe Lycett has said he thought he would not get along with “certain people” on The Celebrity Traitors and revealed that he broke one major rule before cameras even started to roll20:24, 03 Sep 2026Updated 20:29, 03 Sep 2026Joe Lycett confessed that he broke the rules before even stepping foot in the Celebrity Traitors castle, while revealing his first thoughts on the star-studded line-up.The comedian, 38, is among the 21 stars taking part in the second series of the hit BBC show, which will air in autumn. The show is the celebrity spin-off of the original civilian version, both of which are hosted by Claudia Winkleman.Set in a castle in the Scottish Highlands, the game follows the celebrity contestants – the majority of whom are known as Faithfuls– as they try to seek out the murderous traitors among them, who kill off players in the middle of the night.Speaking on the Hits Radio Breakfast Show, he said: “I got on with everyone, and I thought there were certain people I wouldn’t get on with when I saw the line-up.“You don’t know the line-up but I think they published it two days before we went in and I was like, ‘oh God’, I talked about actors and there was loads of them but there wasn’t a single person in there that I didn’t get on with.“I asked [comedian] Joanne McNally, who is one of my favourite people in the world, and she said ‘I’m in as well’, so the comics sort of worked out who was in because we all talk to teach other.”Lycett also admitted he broke the terms of his non-disclosure agreement, adding: “We weren’t meant to ask people if they were doing it – you sign the NDA and they say don’t tell anyone you’re doing it, but if you search the word ‘traitors’ in my WhatsApp I told everyone! I was telling Uber drivers, I was telling everyone.”The other stars taking part include former Game of Thrones sstar Bella Ramsay, singer James Blunt, comedian James Acaster, broadcaster Amal Rajan, model Jerry Hall and Coronation Street legend Julie Hesmondhalgh.They are joined by social media star King Kenny, singer Leigh-Anne Pinnock, presenter Maya Jama, comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan, and actors Miranda Hart, Michael Sheen, Myha’la, Richard E Grant, Ross Kemp, Sebastian Croft and Sharon Rooney.The first series of The Celebrity Traitors aired on the BBC last autumn, with its nail-biting finale hitting a peak of 15.4 million viewers, according to the broadcaster.
