All Blacks head coach Dave Rennie believes there’s no war of words or bad blood between him and Springboks mentor Rassie Erasmus, despite the fallout from his scrum comments following the second Test in Cape Town.
Rennie, speaking at his team announcement press conference on Thursday, said he and Erasmus shared a beer after the second Test in Cape Town. He added that they are not going out of their way to create narratives around the scrum ahead of the third Test at FNB Stadium in Soweto on Saturday.
With Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry delicately balanced at 1-all after clashes at Ellis Park and DHL Stadium, this weekend’s battle becomes the important one as the teams search for a win. It will give them an unassailable 2-1 lead ahead of the fourth and final Test in Baltimore in the USA.
Rennie surprised with a couple of selections, including dropping hooker Codie Taylor for Asafo Aumua, while Sam Darry starts at lock and Peter Lakai takes over the No 6 jersey.
