The State government has suspended IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar, who has been arrested and is facing an inquiry by the CID in connection with alleged irregularities in conducting of examinations by the Karnataka Public Service Commission for filling up veterinary officers’ posts.Mr. Gangwar served as Controller of Examination in the KPSC from February 2024 to March 2026 before being appointed as Director, MSME. Mr. Gangwar, who is the first accused to be arrested in the case, is presently in the custody of CID that is probing the case.Meanwhile, the CID is likely to summon suspended KPSC Chairman Shivashakarappa S. Sahukar for the second time in connection with the alleged KPSC recruitment scam.Mr. Sahukar has approached the High Court seeking anticipatory bail, citing apprehension of arrest in the case. Meanwhile, the CID is likely to issue him another notice to appear for questioning.Meanwhile, as part of the probe, CID officials conducted a mahazar at the residence of the alleged middleman Basavaraj Kannale in Sanjay Nagar, Bengaluru, and examined documents and other material believed to be relevant to the case. The officials had earlier searched Kannale’s residence in his hometown and seized documents allegedly connected with the scam.The CID is also tracing the suspected financial transactions and money trail linked to the case. Earlier, investigators conducted a mahazar at a cooperative society in Bhalki, where they examined records relating to monetary dealings and transactions through multiple bank accounts allegedly linked to the accused.Investigators are now scrutinising the financial records, documents and transactions collected during the searches to determine the flow of money and establish the links between the accused and the alleged recruitment irregularities.
